Calendar Girls - November

What would a November challenge be without Thanksgiving as the theme?!

The Calendar Girls from SCS are puttin' out the Thanksgiving themed cards this round.   Be sure to stop by their blogs and take a peek.  I am sure that there will be some amazing cards....as always!  Their blog links are on the right sidebar.

I do not have many Thanksgiving stamps.  Like not even a turkey!  LOL   I went to my image files and found a turkey - for reals!   Since the image is from an image swap, I am unsure the company to give credit to.  He's a nice turkey though!

We were asked by our hostess Terry to share a story, or good or bad meal that we have had at a past Thanksgiving.  I have to say I so miss my Grandma's cooking.  She was an amazing cook.  Never did we have a bad meal.  Oh, and the apple pie....  gosh, I am hungry right now!!!!  Every Thanksgiving was one to remember.

Here is my card for our posting.  I hope that you all have a great Thanksgiving holiday.

Dueling Darlings - November

Hello and welcome to the November duel of the Dueling Darlings from SCS!  We have a talented group of ladies that create awesome projects.  Their blog links can be found on the right sidebar.

Darlene and I were fortunate enough to host the Dazzlers and the Divas this month.   We decided to have the groups create a masculine card.  You know the ones that some of us struggle to make, but always need.

I wanted the Diva's to get really creative this month.   I provided them with a stamped tag.  I stamped the tag in four different colors, to hopefully accommodate their final creations.   I asked each to add a masculine stamp of their own to the tag, that is an image - no words.  I cannot wait to see what they have come up with!

I chose to use the tag image in Memento Pear Tart ink.  I added some images from the Stampin' UP! Fishin' stamp set.  Oh, that set doesn't look familiar to you...LOL...that's because it is older than dirt!

The sentiment is from a Stampin' UP! word set.  I had an expired Bath and Body Works coupon that was similar to a chipboard banner, so I worked it over and it is what the sentiment is mounted upon.  To give the tag and the sentiment some thickness, I mounted them on some cardboard from a chip box.  Yes, I rummaged through the recycling bin!  I punched out the stamped tag hole and used it on the sentiment with a brad.  I replaced the hole on the tag with a corduroy button that our cat tried to steal...twice!

We also asked the girls to share a funny holiday story from someone masculine in their life.  I will choose my grandpa.  Our family always gathered at our grandparent's house for Thanksgiving.  My brother, cousins and I would get to play all day long.  As well as eat candy and drink soda pop.  We ran around that house like banshees.  How they put up with us, I don't know!   Every time we would round the corner running Grandpa would lift his leg and you would have to jump and he would laugh.  Don't forget.....because he never did!   ;)  I am not sure which was more fun playing with the cousins or Grandpa.  Um, I do have a scar on my left eye from running in their house though.

I am so glad to be a part of the Dueling Darlings.  I appreciate the friendship, creativity and challenge they provide to me.  Thanks, girls!

Christmas Card Weekend

Hi, Everyone!

My friends and I had our Christmas Card Weekend and are back in town.  We had a fabulous time as always.  Such a fun group of girls.   Here, you probably need to play this while you take a peek below.

As you may know, we have been having stellar weather these past few weeks.  Well, that changed on Friday when we left, dang it!  It was a dark, rainy drive through the coastal mountains. It was a long drive with traffic.  Normally, just under two hours took double!  Ugh!  Most was in town, then slow due to the conditions.  It would be nice if the state could step up to the plate and re-paint some lines on the road!  One of our girls is a bit of a nervous rider....rightfully so, she has been in four accidents as a passenger....so, I would warn "Close your eyes Kristy, we are passing!".  LOL   We did have some sun breaks and some really pretty beach views over the weekend.  Great shopping and meals.  Very lucky indeed.

So, I have been asked to share my card.  You may recognize the basic layout.  I expanded on the original card I created with the gifted Stampin' UP! image {thanks, Darlene}.  Embellishments were added and some knucklehead {me} decided to make a three ribbon treatment.  Those little gingham ribbons were the death of me!  What was I thinking?!

I am lacking on pictures, was too busy laughing, singing {oh my}, making little bows and spreading six brads per card.  Again, what was I thinking?!  Sore fingers, for sure!

Here is the finished card, including the interior.  There are a lot of them!!!  Each of the girls do around a hundred cards.

I did think of you girls when we visited the Christmas ornament shop.   It is HUGE!  It is open year around.  There are thousands of ornaments.  I tried to get some pictures.  There were a lot of people in the store, so trying to snap pictures with a view.  Sorry to the people I do not know who are on my blog pictures!

Jeanette, I took this one of the owls for you!

These little figurines reminded me of House Mouse stamps.

There were so many more to show, but this gives you an idea.  There were wreaths on the ceiling and they were themed ornaments like Coca Cola, wine, music and such.   Fun place!

I am happy to say that my Christmas cards are finished and ready to be addressed and sent.  Check that one off the list!

Have a great day!
