Calendar Girls - May

It's Calendar Girl time!   For the month of May, April is our hostess.

April, challenged us to do three things.  First, create a masculine celebratory card, as she likes to celebrate her father this time of year.  Second, use a sketch from the SCS Sketch Challenge Forum.   The chosen sketch needed to end with the number 25, the year her father was born.  I chose to work with sketch SC125 due to the size of the items for my card.

Well, there is nothing that my dad probably celebrates more than fishing!  It was the first thing that came to mind.  I then had a little inkling that I had some older than dirt fishing pieces in my stash.  I had not looked at them in ages. I pulled them out and used the word graphic and two picture pieces that I must have gotten at a scrap booking store along the way.  I worked the pieces around a bit and intertwined them.   I added a little safety pin that was from a clothing purchase. Added some fatty grommets and put some embroidery thread - 'cause you know I don't embroider with it - on the card stock and glued it all up.

Please be sure and visit the rest of the Calendar Girls from SCS.  Their blog links are on the right sidebar.   Thanks, for stopping by!

Dueling Darlings - May

Hello everyone!  Welcome to the May duel of the Dueling Darlings from SCS.  We have some music to share this month, so get your speakers ready!

Judy, was our hostess for the Divas.  She sent a kit to us with a music theme.   There were so many fun things to use in the kit, it was hard to decide what to use!  Then I saw the little Hawaiian boy image and I was so using that image.

As I am sure that a lot of you already know, DH and I love the Hawaiian islands.  It is a favorite place of ours.  We really try to go and sink our toes in the sand and take in the culture every year.  There really is no place like it. The locals are No Ka Oi {the best}!

We have not been able to visit the past few years due to elderly pets, a new pet, elderly parents and simply not being able to get away from obligations. In fact, we just relived our last visit this weekend sitting on the sofa, eyes closed and five hours away.  Oh, you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone!

Okay...back to reality...Judy asked us to share a song and who we would dedicate it to.  I saw the image for the card, thought of the islands, which made me think of DH and how this is one of the first songs we play in the rental car when we arrive in Hawaii!  Alright, we sing the chorus when we are in the sun outside here too.   Or we will sing it loud to our neighbor across the fence if we are all outside - she too is an island lover.

The image for the kit this round reminded me of one of our favorite places to eat when in Maui. It is the Hula Grill in Kaanapali.   A great place for dinner, or just pull up to the barefoot bar and listen to the live music.  Aaaahhhhhh.....

Thanks Judy, for a great kit and fun challenge!
