Card Kit Swap - Two & Calendar Girls September

I have a dual card for you all today for two groups on SCS, the Calendar Girls and Card Kit Swappers.

I received the most gracious card kit from, Carol. She really went all out. Thank you, Carol!  There were so many things to choose from.

I was able to use the items from Carol's kit to create a card that is in theme for the Calendar Girls.  Terry, is our hostess for September.  Our theme was to create a sympathy card.

Carol sent me a bunch of cute Magnolia images.  I chose Tilda holding some flowers and coupled it with a sentiment that I had from Stampin' UP!  The papers and pearls are from KI Memories and Carol's kit.

I was in a hurry to fit getting this card completed and of course after my first cut, my paper trimmer wire broke.  Ugh!  I had to use the back up trimmer that cuts crooked.  Double ugh!  Then when I tried to take the picture I kept having shadows show, so I apologize.  I had to run with what I had!

Of course making the card with this theme made me think of helping friends and then I had to listen to The Little River Band.

Hope you all have a great day!

Dueling Darlings - September

Time to duel....or get really hungry!   Our theme this month is to create a recipe card.   I just know that I am going to get some great ideas and a stomach rumble or two checking out what the Dueling Darlings from SCS have to share this month!

Barb, is the Divas hostess for September.  We received the cutest kit with so many matching items I wanted to use them all!   Our directions were to create a 4 x 6 recipe card.

I shared a quick recipe that I just love.   I could so drink this stuff! No, really.  I use all organic items to make this dressing.  Most importantly, your maple syrup needs to be real.  No corn syrup mess, 100% real maple syrup.   It is more expensive, but it tastes so good and is not a bunch of everything but maple syrup!  If you do not have a local source, Costco has really good pricing on their organic Kirkland brand.

Another hint....the same goes for Costco's organic honey - although not in this recipe, I thought I would mention it.  You know how most honey crystallizes then you cannot use it and have to microwave it and all kinds of crazy stuff? Yeah, real honey doesn't do that!

We have this dressing year around.  It goes well with all types of salads.  I can get my DH to eat large amounts of kale with this dressing!  The recipe is for one serving.  I triple or quadruple the recipe, put it in a jar and refrigerate.  Just give it a good shake if you do this, as the olive oil solidifies a bit.  By the way, did you know if your olive oil does not solidify some when refrigerated, there is a really good chance that it is not pure olive oil?  Check your brand. There are a lot of less than advertised brands out there.  For what we pay for olive oils, they should be what they are advertised!

I cannot wait to get started on our foodie journey of the DDD's blog posts.   Be sure to visit their blogs on the right side bar.   I am sure we are in for some yummy goodness!
