DDD - September

Hello!

I am a bit late to our first duel of the new season.   The Dueling Darlings from SCS, had their first post of the new season on the 15th.  Our Diva leader this month is, Kelly.   She sent a shiny pink package out to me and well, the USPS lost it for a bit.  It finally arrived yesterday!   Better late than never.  Yes, it gave me a chance to use a cliche!

There were so many pretty papers and items in the card kit - amazing!  Thank you, Kelly.  Our directions were to use the basket and at least one apple.   Done and done!  The stamps from The Alley Way Stamps were really cute.  I especially liked the pear image.

Speaking of pears, we were challenged to share a recipe for the Tutti Fruity themed part of our challenge.  Well, DH and I have a favorite salad.   It is inspired by a restaurant in Seattle.  We eat it often and okay, a whole lot of portion size!!!

Pear Salad

Spring Mix greens
1/4 amount of Arugula to the amount of Spring Mix greens you use
Gorgonzola cheese
Candied pecan pralines  - chopped
A whole fresh pear - sliced
Trader Joe's Champagne Pear Vinaigrette {I could probably drink it if I was allowed}

Hand toss all ingredients to incorporate dressing and serve immediately - no fighting!

On the subject of fruit - can you believe these grapes?!   The grapes were huge and oh so good!

Please be sure to see all of the Dueling Darlings creations.  We have three new members and a lot to look at.  Their blogs are located on the right sidebar, just click and enjoy!

Thanks, for stopping by!

DDD - Barb's Kit

My Dueling Darlings friend Barb, loves the red, white and blue!  It was fun to see what card kit she sent to us in our SCS group.

The kit was nothing short of stuffed full of goodness!  So many papers and a cute Whipper Snapper image, Glory Bee.  I tried to use as many of the embellies as I could.  I highlighted with some Spica markers, that may not show well in the picture - remember I am sparkle photographically inept!

The good news is I can tuck this card away and I am so 'one done' for next July!   Thank you for the kit, Barb!

With that my friends, I am caught up on the card kits!   Yay!!!  Thanks again, for being so patient with me.

Have a great weekend!

DDD - Carol's Kit

Okay, I am slowly getting caught up!   Carol, sent an adorable kit to us for the Dueling Darlings on SCS.  Such fun summer papers and images, thank you Carol.

Carol provided the details of the kit via an electronic source and in my cleaning up to catch up, I swished it away!  If I remember correctly, it was supposed to be anything but a card, so here is my CARD!  LOL   I know, always an issue!

I loved the plaid paper and the smidge of sparkle to the worded DP. The sparkle reminds me of, Carol.   I even used a button {Kelly}!  You know I had a time putting that thread in the button.  Too close to sewing for me!  Yes, I swore.

Hope you kick back and have a nice glass of end of the summer lemonade!

Forever {Behind That Is - LOL!}

I have a bridal shower to go to this weekend and needed to make a quick card today.

I used one of my older than dirt Stampin' UP! sets and a tried and true layout. I went with a brighter paper, as the future bride likes brighter colors and is not a frilly girl.  The DP is from K & Company.  Now to find time to run and get a gift off of the registry.  I know!  It has to slow down sometime soon...right?!

Have a great holiday weekend!

DDD - Kadie's Kit

Sssshhhh don't tell anyone, but I made another card in-between doing some work!  I know!!!

I have some making up to do for the Dueling Darlings on SCS.   I have a few kits that were received and I did not get a chance to create from them.  I am so sorry girls and will try to catch up.

Our Kadie sent a sweet kit out.  I do not even know for what month, it has been so long!   LOL  Sorry, Kadie.   We had our choice of coffee or tea.   I kind of chose both.   Tea for the image and used the little coffee cutout in the embellie I made.  I like and drink them both!

The image is from MFT A la Mode - You're My Cup of Tea.  I wanted to challenge myself to use the cardboard and cutouts, as that is usually not my realm.

I used the picture frame border and added some real sequins - I think from Kadie too in another kit!!! to add some depth.  I made a background with card stock and fussy cut (APRIL!) the image that I colored with Copic Markers and Prismacolor Pencils.   I worked the other cutouts, flowers, ribbon and twine to create the embellie and sentiment panel.

Kadie, thank you for the kit.  I liked creating with it!
