Did Someone Say Food?!

I joined a great group of girls on the SCS site for a recipe swap.  I cannot wait to see what great ideas I receive in my return. 

Here is the recipe card that I sent in for the swap.

The 6 x 6 card originated from a 12 x 12 piece of Bazzill card stock.  The pink colored card stock is also Bazzill.  The DP came in two separate sheets that coordinated together.  Darn, if I cannot find the name of the company.  I just know entered that somewhere! 

The recipe was computer generated.  I stamped the page with a Stampin' UP! stamp and Not Quite Navy ink.  I colored the heart with Copic Markers. 

I created a little pocket for the recipe card to slide in and out of.  The back of the recipe card is adorned with the DP, the other side as shown, the recipe itself.

I used Cuttlebug Swiss Dots to emboss the white flowers, which were punched from a Fiskars punch.  The second flower layer was a Martha Stewart punch.  The smallest flower was a Paper Shapers punch.  The flower center just a regular ole hole punch.  The eyelets I had on hand.  The ribbon is from American Crafts.

Cherry on Top Award

If you could see me right now, you would see I was blushing.  I received the following blog award today.  I can hardly believe it!

I would like to thank Jeanette, for thinking of me for the award.  What a nice surprise.  You are always so kind to everyone.  You are the glue that holds the 'forest' together and I appreciate it!

The three things that I love about myself (why is that so hard to type?) would be that I am able to have wonderful friends and family, I appreciate having the ability to be a creative and independent person and the fact that there are a lot of things in this world that crack me up - so being able to see the humor in people and situations.

Here is the picture that I love.  When I see it, well, it usually means I am the heck outta here to somewhere good, good, good!

I suppose now that I am in an award recipient euphoria, it would be a good time to disclose that I am not exactly a rule follower if I do not want to be. I know, shocker!!! LOL I think it said 'question authority' next to my name in my yearbook. With that said, I might change it up a bit here!

Here are the six people that I want to pass the award on to - whether they have a blog or not, or if they want to re-post or not!  If you have already received an award, then just take the words said as enough done on your part.

Barb:   You are always so very kind.  In the posts on SCS you are always thinking of others and sharing of your time.  What a great example you are for others.  I remember you gifted some images to me when I first was on SCS and I thought it was so nice of you to go the extra mile.

Cheryl:  Or as I call you, Bob....although you are so busy these days, we have laughed so very hard at our point of views.  While I miss seeing you on SCS, I appreciate what you are doing for your family.  

Jeanette:  This is the rules part that I am ignoring.   I thanked you above, but think you deserve the award twice.  Now because I am making up my own rules, you do not have to repost, just receive.  I think what you are accomplishing for yourself in your goals is a great example to your family and others.  By taking care of yourself, you are giving the best gift to them.  They could ask for no more.

April:  I think it is so nice of you to comment on some of my cards that they look great, when I think they really are quite questionable! I so appreciate that!!!!  You seem to lift up everyone's day in your posts.

Debbie:  You always make me laugh.  You are my fellow Costco Sistah.  We are going to save the world one packet of Splenda at a time!   I love that you are always checking in on everyone and care what is going on with them.

Michelle:  You are the perfect person to keep us all going in the forest.  You are thoughtful of others and always there to post as someone's friend. 

I feel like I just finished a sit in at a love fest!  Just kidding.....I think it is great that people take the time to appreciate others.  Thanks again!

My Peep's Birthday

I needed to send a birthday card out today.  I went through some images that I received via an image swap on SCS.   I came across the Birthday Chicken from Whipper Snapper Designs.  I thought the image would make a cute card.

The color combination is based upon the color challenge at the Crafty Ho's Challenge Blog for this week.  Primary colors are the theme for the challenge.  Thinking about it, I guess I do not use all primary colors too often.  

The card base and sentiment is Conqueror CX22 Diamond White.  The yellow layer is Stampin' UP! Summer Sun.  The red paper is Stampin' UP! Real Red.  The DP is a scrap that I had from Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety.

As I mentioned I had the image from an image swap.  I colored the image with Prisma colored pencils.  I added white accents with a gel pen.  I sponged both the computer generated sentiment and the image with Colorbox Chalk Ink in Wheat and Stampin' UP! Summer Sun ink.  Nestabilities were used to cut, emboss and layer the image.

I used my Sizzix embossing folder Flowers 'n Dots for the yellow layer.  I put a stickle drop in yellow on the DP flower.  I had a cute little flower eyelet I attached to the DP.  The ribbon is from JoAnn's that I stapled onto the paper.

Fishing Riley

As I have mentioned before, my dad loves to go fishing.   I try to keep my eye out for any type of stamp or image that is associated to fishing with him in mind. 

I was a part of an image swap that had Riley & Company images.  I was excited that I received two of the Fishing Riley images.  One each for my dad and father-in-law.   Well, I was only able to make one card.  ** Insert pet peeve here ** Don't you just not get it as to why people stamp an image that needs to be colored in an ink that is not suitable for coloring?!  Just sayin'! **  Since my dad's birthday is this week, he gets the card!

You may notice that I used the same paper and colors from a previous project.  I really thought that they worked for both.   Here is Daddy O's card:

I used Stickles in Patina for the hat, reel and bob.  I used Stickles in Diamond Dust for the water highlights.  The glitter brad is the Reflections brand from Michael's.

Flower Sympathy

Sympathy cards are my least favorite cards to make.  I needed to make two this week.  Friends of ours lost their father.  He was a funny man and will be missed.

Here is the card that I created to send to them. 

The card stock that I used was from a local craft store, so I do not know the color name or brand.  The ribbon is from Offray.

I heat embossed the image and the sentiment.  The image is a stamp that I had on hand.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!. 

I colored the image and the sentiment background by rubbing the paper with ink.  I used Colorbox Yello Cadmium and Stampin' UP! Pale Plum, Yo Yo Yellow, Pumpkin Pie and Apricot Appeal.  I used yellow Stickles on the center of the flower.

I embossed the background layer with the Cuttlebug Victoria folder.  The sentiment was cut with Nestabilities.

Whale of a Good Time

My brother and sister-in-law are taking a cruise to Alaska in August.  While we were not able to go on the trip with them, we want them to have the best time!  Here is a little card that I made to send to them as their trip nears.

The card stock base is Conqueror DX22 Diamond White, as well as the white the image is printed on.   The light blue layer is Stampin' UP! Bashful Blue.  The darker blue layer is Bazzill paper.  The DP is from Best Creating Inc. 

The image is digital and from Create with TLC.  I thought the whale to be perfect for their card.   I used Nestabilities to cut and mount the image.  The image is colored with Copic markers.   I used a Stampin' UP! Bashful Blue marker to color the water then used Stickles to make it sparkle.  The glittery brads are from Reflections at Michael's.  The sentiment is computer generated.

Tink

Well, I can hardly believe it has been a full month that I have not created a blessed thing!  It has been so very busy; I really have had nothing but good intentions.  

So to get right back into things, I needed to create a special request birthday card.  TinkerBell of all things!  Not only a gap in the mojo, but now I have to work with TinkerBell things flying around in my head!!! 

As I have probably posted before, I am not a huge fan of stickers.   I just traipse past that isle whenever I see it in a craft store.   So now, here I am looking for TinkerBell paper and some sort of TinkerBell sumpin' sumpin'.   I end up finding a sticker package.   Since when is a single sticker over $4.00?  Have I been gone that long?! 

I started to use the sketch from the Crafty Ho's Challenge Blog, but seem to have deviated from it quite a bit.  Anyway, here is TinkerBell in all her glory.  I think a little five year old should like it (cross your fingers)!

The cardstock base and cream layer are from Bazzill.  The purple layer was loose cardstock at the craft store.   The DP is EK Success Disney TinkerBell Flower Paper.

The Sticker is from EK Success Disney.   The rhinestones are from Basics by Kaisercraft.  The eyelets are We R Memory.  The ribbon is from American Crafts.
