Did you all survive the fireworks this month?! We have our own little snap, crackle and pop this month with the Dueling Darlings from SCS.
Kelly, was our hostess this month. We received a kit that had a bunch of goodness from Taylored Expressions. Our theme, Birds of a Feather, Flock Together.
Our group is four years in the making, if you can believe that! With that said, that was a part of our challenge - to use four of one thing from our card kit. I chose to use the pearls in the lower right corner.
We were challenged to build our image. We had a scrolling tree trunk and a few different tree tops to work with. I chose a tree top that I thought would work to show the scroll of the tree.
There were sentiments and little birds, eggs and a nest to choose from. I changed the images from white card stock to an ivory color with ink, a stamp and pencils, to match the paper I chose from the kit.
I had to use the rust colored paper as it reminded me of my mom. I know, weird right? My parents had a house built in 1979. It had rust carpet, just like the DP color! It was the house of what's happenin' now in the day! LOL It reminded me of this song, the best selling record ever for Atlantic Records.
Burlap - we had to use burlap. We had a great sheet to use, now how to cut that stuff straight! Ugh! That was more the challenge than using the item for pity sake. I still did not master it. Any tips would be appreciated!
Please be sure to check out all of the Dueling Darlings creations. I cannot wait to see what the other Diva's did with their trees. All blog links are on the right sidebar.
Thanks for stopping by!

Great Card Tami--and Burlap does not need to be cut straight!
I love the design of your card and the colors are perfect!
Ditto! No fussin' over burlap, lol - that's the beauty of it, it's supposed to be a mess! :) Me, I love those dorky frayed edges that make me want to bang my head into the wall and fray just when I have it "just right" - it gives it character! :)
I did rust, too!! Holy cards, sistah! I pulled from the tiny dots in the blue-ish paper - so rust won out, lol. Now tell me you had the green appliances from Sears and the yellow cabinets - eh?! LOL!
Your card is just total awesomesauce! As are you!
Muah! ♥
Hi Tami! Love, love, love your card!! So my colors...love those autumn colors!! Gorgeous tree...great coloring with the crystal drops!! I agree no need to have perfectly straight cut burlap. It's imperfections are part of the appeal and I love how you created the multiple layers with the bird perched on the end. The row of four pearls is the perfect incorporation of the challenge to use 4 of one element.
Thanks for being a wonderful papercrafting friend! I love and am so grateful to be a DDD with you!!!
Oh my you did a great job with this kit. I love your layout and the way you used so much of the kit...Classy card my sweet friend..I'm so glad we are duelers and friends...To another 4 years and more...hugs....
SUPER FUN card, Tami! I love love how you shaded that tree--the colors are perfect. And your choice of "4" is awesome too. Another great card, another great month at DDD. HUGS!!
Great card. More wonderful designer paper. Love the fussy cut tree and little bird on the burlap.
