Calendar Girls - Our First Big Blog Post!

I am so honored to have been asked to be a part of a blog group on SCS.  We have a group of very talented ladies that I have learned so much from.   We even have a name!  We are the Calendar Girls.
Each Calendar Girl has a month of the year.  Did I mention that I am Miss October? Yep, it's true!

The month prior to her assigned month, each Calendar Girl puts forth the challenge(s) to the other Calendar Girls.   We take the challenge(s) and create a card and post it to our blogs.

I have to say that I have really enjoyed perusing other blogs. There is so much talent and techniques to learn from. You should take a peek at the other Calendar Girls blogs - they are amazing!

In our first challenge we had a few criteria to meet.  Our card needed to be themed for our calendar month.....again, my month is October.   We needed to use our last purchased tool.  My tool was the Corner Chomper.  I used it around the image itself on this card.  The last criterion was to use your favorite embellishment.   This one was hard...I like them all!  I actually think that I like ribbon best, so used some on the card.

Here is the card that I created to represent the month of October:

The colors in the photo seem to be very vivid.  In person they are much more muted and distressed looking.

The cardstock base is Stampin' UP! Old Olive.  The blue layer is Stampin' UP! Not Quite Navy.  The cream layer is scrap paper I had on hand.   The DP is from Cosmo Cricket, Early Bird.

I received the image in an image swap, so do not know the company to lend credit to.  I colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils.  I inked the edges with Stampin' UP! Apricot Appeal and Colorbox chalk ink.

I had the paper flowers, brad and ribbon on hand.

Thanks, for taking a look my contribution to our great group of girls.  I think that we are going to have a really great time!

Supersized Stickles

How funny are these Stickles from Ranger that I found at Michael's yesterday?!   They came in a three pack.  The package was marked Limited Edition.  They are a full ounce each, opposed to the normal size of .5 ounce.

It is like you went to a fast food drive through and ordered Stickles and supersized them!   It makes the blue normal sized one look itty bitty!

If you can, check them out.  A three pack originally was $11.99.  They were marked down to $4.99.  They rang up at the register for $2.39.  That is only $ .80 each!   There were other colors as well.

Hmmmm.....wonder what I will glue next?!

Coffee Riley

Hello!

You are probably tired of hearing this being said (I actually think I am reinforcing it into my head by saying and writing it! LOL), but I am working on going through my scrap, then not new but never used papers BEFORE I purchase anything new for a project.

I seem to be doing pretty well.  I do find when I am done with a project here and there, that I think the project would look a little better layered with a certain other color or something like that.   I do feel better using what I have already purchased though.  Maybe it is just keeping my name off of the future broadcast list of the television show Hoarders!

Here is a quick card that I made the other day.  The image is from Riley & Company.   Yes, this is a card that I thought could look a little better layered differently....oh my......

Thanks, for taking a peek.  I hope that you have a good day!
