Calendar Girls - April

Miss April - aka Terry - issued the Calendar Girls a water themed challenge this month.   We were to use some type of water on our card creation.

I had recently gone through my digital images just prior to the challenge being posted.   As soon as I heard the water theme, I remembered a funny little image from Hambo Stamps.  I just had to use it.

Now this part is one of those things that you kinda have to be there, but funny just the same.   There was a really dumb movie called Super Troopers.   Did I say it was a dumb movie?  Well, there was an infamous scene you might remember....the meow scene.   The premise is to throw the word meow in with what you are saying when talking to people and see if you can get away with it.   The person you are with is to count how many times you get away with it.  The other part is to try and do it when the person you are with is least expecting it, so they have to play along.  Stupid right?!  Try it!  It will make you laugh like no other.    Ssshhhh, it is a game that we play with our friends.

So you know that this card is going to our friend {meow} with the 'how do you like me meow' saying on it.

Please stop by and view the other Calendar Girl's creations.  Their blog links are listed to the right of this post under Calendar Girls.

Hope you have a fun day!   Really, try it.  It will make you laugh!

Mystery Challenge Swap For April

The time has finally arrived!  The Mystery Challenge Swap for April on SCS is ready to post.

While I have participated in many swaps on SCS, I had yet to host a swap.   It was my turn in the rotation for April.   I have had so much fun these past few weeks, with the best yet to come....the big reveal!

The image that I chose to send to everyone is from The Angel Company (TAC).   It is a new image to me, that was gifted through very generous blog candy from Audrey.   I thought the image of the girl from 'Oh No You Didn't' was so cute with her umbrella.   For an extra element to the challenge, I also sent along a piece of DP from Making Memories and a ticket embellishment from House of 3.

For my personal card, I found some cute DP that I thought would go with the image well.  It was from DCWV Flower Shower.   It had these adorable clouds.   I cut out the rest of the scene from the paper.  The challenge items are located on the interior of the card.

I had so much fun with this process.  I do hope that everyone else did as well.   I am looking forward to our next round that will be hosted by, Paola.   Until then......

Dueling Darlings - April

I've Got The Diva In Me....I've Got The Diva In Me.   Can you hear the theme from the song I've Got The Music In Me?   I played it on YouTube, but substituted the word diva for music.

For whatever reason, that is the song that came to mind while I was making this card.   Could it be that it is time for the Dueling Darlings to reveal their cards for April? I think so!

Remember, I've Got The Diva In Me, so our Diva theme this month is Movie Night.  Joan, sent us a way over the top themed kit this month.   There were different Graphic 45 DP's that were so cool.  She gave many images to work with in different colors.  Embellies, oh the embellies!

While I am not a huge movie buff, I usually get around to a movie eventually!   Ssshhh, don't tell anyone but I have never seen Star Wars! I guess I am just too picky when it comes to movies that I like.  I am not into sci-fi.  Do not see the point in horror.  Fantasy, not so much.  So, that leaves me with a tear jerker or laughter!

Part of our challenge this month is to list five of our favorite movies.   Just that is a difficult one for me!   So, here is what I came up with in no particular order:

An Officer and a Gentleman - now who does not like the sweep you off your feet at the end of a factory shift kinda guy?!

The Breakfast Club & Sixteen Candles - who cannot quote about half of each of these movies?!

GI Jane - did everyone not want to smack Master Chief across the face or worse, then become a kick a** girl Navy SEAL?!

Fried Green Tomatoes - you may never look at barbecue in the South the same again, but wanted to hug Idgie.

The Hangover - where to start?  There are so many funny things in this movie.  Dang!

Back to the card......I really enjoyed working with the kit that Joan sent to us.  I only added the 35 mm film strip and the accent card stock to the supplies provided.   We have a friend who loves movies, so this card will be on it's way to him.

Thanks, for stopping by to take a peek at my card.  Be sure to check out the other Dueling Darlings listed below:

Preserve The Forest

Our seemingly quarterly 'Forest Swap' on SCS is about due!   The theme for this round is to preserve the forest, thus to use a recycled item on your cards.

I was so unimaginative this go around and re-purposed some ribbon.   You would be so surprised at how creative some of the girls are!  I created a swing top card for the swap.  I had done that type of card once before and it was fun!

I used papers that I had on hand {see how well that I am doing with that shop yourself first!  LOL}.  I thought to myself that I had not done some 'old fashioned' stamping in a long time.   By 'old fashioned', I mean stamping the image with colored stamp pads - 'member those?!   Well, I dug them out and used a Fiskars stamp set, Outdoor Fun.  The background stamp is from Stampin' UP!

I hope that the recipients will like their cards and the spring theme!
