Crafters of Faith Blog Hop

Welcome to my first ever blog hop!   What in the world am I doing a blog hop for you may ask.  Well, I am fortunate enough to have become a part of a great group of girls on SCS, Crafters of Faith and to celebrate our new group we are hosting a blog hop.

The Crafters of Faith blogging group is a joyous blending of christian friends ~ joined together to fellowship, share our faith, build friendships and craft together!  I have met some great new friends and am enjoying some existing friends in our group.

Our group hostess this month is Carol S! She gave us a wonderful Harvest challenge and here is what she asked us to create:

"I love FALL, the colors and the smells! I would like to propose that we make a card with fall colors, it should include fruits and vegetables to remind us of the harvest. When my kids were small, I canned peaches and pears, made pickles and such. So much fun to open those jars in the dead of winter! I am looking so forward to the fall festival of Sukkoth (Feast of Tabernacles). To Biblical historians, this is the actual time of Christ's Birth and many people believe this will also be the season of HIS return. Blessings All!"

This was the perfect challenge to go with our September verse:

Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming.  See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains.   James 5:7

I chose to work with a Stampin' UP! set that I have had forevah!  It is Bountiful Blessings, circa 1999!  Yep, pretty much older than dirt!   Here is the final card for Carol's challenge:

Are you so ready to get this party started or continue on hopping?!  Here is the blog hop order.  You should have arrived here from Kadie's blog.   Your next stop will be Barb's blog.

We have a few girls who are very busy right now and could not participate in the hop.  Please keep them in your thoughts and I am sure you will be able to view their crafty creations in the future.

If you would like to start the blog hop from the beginning, please visit Carol's blog for the entire list of blog hop links.  Be sure to visit our last hopper Kelly's blog for a chance to win a blog hop prize!

Calendar Girls - September

Calendar Girl time!   Yay!!!  The SCS girls are up for the September round, welcome!

Our hostess for September is, Paola.  Our theme this round is in memory of Paola's friend who moved on to a better place this past month.  Our challenge is to create a card that has apples and butterflies on it.  Two items that remind Paola of her friend.  We are to use some of our favorite colors.

I instantly thought of some great DP that I have had forever.  No really, like forever!!!!  I received a kit recently for a card group that I am in.   I used some pre-made die cuts from the kit, for the apple theme {thank you, MaryNell}.  The butterfly was a shiny gem....a little bit shiny for the card.  I scuffed it up a bit to try to blend it to the card.  I used earth tone colors, which I am a huge fan of.  The sentiment is from Create with TLC.

Reflecting on friends made me think of this song.  I love my Calendar Girl friends.  Please be sure to check out their creations as well.  Their blog links are on the right side bar.

Have a great day!

Mystery Challenge Swap - September

It is time to unveil our Mystery Challenge Swap image for September!   Our SCS group makes the most creative cards in this swap!

Our hostess this round was, Samantha.  She gifted us the adorable image from Stampin' UP! called From the Heart.

I liked the play on words in the sentiment, with the word 'cured' and that he is a 'lil piggy.   Also, the sentiment is perfect for someone that is not seriously ill.   I created six cards with all of the images.  One is already in route to a friend right now!

Thank you Samantha, for a great hostess round in this swap.

Dueling Darlings - September

We have a different duel this month on SCS.  The Dueling Darlings are back, but in an extra kind of way!  That is we are using the extras from our past six months of kits to create this month.

Our group is the best!  So very generous in our kits each month.  There are always enough supplies to make multiple cards.

I chose to use elements from three months of past kits gifted by Kelly, Jamie and Joan.  I did add some papers and epoxy buttons from my own supplies.  I started with the images received from Joan and built the card from there.

This is the card with every one's elements.  It was fun to work with every one's kits.  Of course I had to listen to some music.   The garden theme made me think of being a 'green thumb' (I am such a great gardener) which in turn made me think of Green Day.  So, I had to listen to this!

Please be sure and stop by all of the Dueling Darling's blogs.  I cannot wait to see what they created with their extras.  The blog links are on the right side bar.

Thanks, for stopping by!

Mia Says Hi

Okay, so here I am as the seemingly crazy cat lady.   Mia, has a few pictures to share.   She is just a little mini bike.  At a year and a half old, she is tipping the scales at seven pounds.  Her eye is still a bit weepy and I am still hoping it will get better.

I could not find her the other day and here she was behind the pillow on the couch she is not allowed on.  Yeah, that was not an easy find!

Mia, also enjoys laying in the air conditioned house and sunning herself in slices of sun.   Spoiled she is.

Oh, would that be the mantel you are on?  Yes, where you walk in front of the television so we have to look around you.   Oh, okay.  Really?!

Here is my favorite blanket.  I like to hide in it, but want to see out!

Mia, also wanted me to add that she has caught a fly and her mom was thoroughly disgusted and she chewed a string to a window blind that will now no longer open.    DH thinks that she knows that I secretly want to get plantation shutters for that window anyway!   LOL  Remember, we were used to having a geriatric 21 year old cat that you could find sleeping in one of three places!   We love her.

Fall Card Kit

Fall is just around the corner!   Officially thirteen days from now.   Wow!!!

I received the best card kit from MaryNell, who is in the same Facebook swap group that I am in.  There were so many things to choose from!   The theme was Falling Leaves.

I was able to use five elements from the kit to create this card.   I do not have a Cricut machine, so it was fun to work with the words created from it.  They were cut on a cool Post It type backed paper.  You Cricut Girls out there are probably giggling and going "duh"!    LOL

Thanks again, MaryNell.
