Dueling Darlings - January

The Dazzlers and the Divas are ready to duel for another year!  I am so glad, as I love this group of girls from SCS.

The Divas received a kit this month from, LJ.  I so loved it!   Thank you, LJ.  It was full of great DP's, ribbons, embellishments and adorable images that themed to reading.

I love to read.  I really try to make time to read every day.  You can learn so much, or be carried away into a story in a minute of time.   Of course I have to give a shout out to one of my FAVORITE things, my Kindle.   eReaders have revolutionized reading today.  Now when we travel I do not have to figure and stuff multiple books to my bag(s).  Yay me!  Shoot, I have my 82 year old neighbor reading on a Kindle!

For the challenge portion of the duel this month we were asked to share our favorite author or book and why.   Oh my.  You mean I have to choose?!   That is a really hard one.  I tend to read mostly fiction.  I am trying to fit in some classic literature - you know the books I should have read in school!  LOL  I have read a few fitness based books.  I read from a study Bible.  Oh to choose....who....

Well, I would have to say that a favorite author is Ann Rule.   Ann, is a true crime writer that lives in the Seattle area, that was once in law enforcement herself.  She has helped many victims and their families find a voice and tell their side of a story.  I probably should have gone to work for the FBI.  I kinda dig on the whole 'to catch a serial killer' kinda thing!  Give me a bulletproof vest and I will run around with the Criminal Minds crew any day!   "Stop, FBI!".....how did I do?!   LOL

Here is the card from our great kit!      Please be sure and visit the other Dueling Darlings to see their creations with this kit and the Dazzlers with their kit.  Their blog URL's are on the right sidebar under Dueling Darlings.

Thanks, for stopping by!

Wow Tami.....love all of the layers and your great layout! What a cute card you have created!

Thank you for getting me hooked on the library! I haven't had a library card in over 25 years and had no idea how easy it was to get books that way electronically!

Great job this month and SOO happy you are a Diva!!

Wow! Wonderful card, Tami! Love the layout...such a super design. Great use of ribbon, brads and buttons! I think your crosswork paperpiece is just the perfect touch! And what an interesting choice of reading materials. My DH loves his Kindle that he got last year as a Christmas gift. Me, I haven't yet graduated to e-reading. I love to pass on books I've read and so far I'm not sure that is possible with e-readers.

Oh, Tami, your card is divine! Not only do I love every little detail that went into your card (especially, the little crossword!) but I also love how you posed your picture with the blossom in the bg. I also like that your fave author is Ann Rule (cause she's from Seattle). Great job with this kit, Sweetie!! HUGs, kadie

YAY I made it! This is fantastic! I love how your cards are always so clean and classic! Mine end up on the messy 'too much' side!

I remember reading Ann Rule 'stranger beside me' - the book all about Ted Bundy way back when ... she has a gift for true crime, that's for sure. I always said I missed my calling for not going into forensics as CSI type things are so fascinating to me. My dad and I spent hours watching crime shows!

Awesome duel this month, kiddo! x0x0
