Crafters of Faith - April

It is the last day of the month and time for the SCS group Crafters of Faith to post their monthly challenge, so welcome!

April, was our hostess this round.  She requested that we use flowers and receive inspiration from the following verse:

Leviticus 26:4 - Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

I tried my hand at rolling a few things into one!  I had to make some sympathy cards.  They are not my favorite to make, for the obvious.  I then thought of April's challenge.  Then thinking of April, reminded me of grandma paper as we always joke about it.   Then grandma paper reminded me of that cute layout of Barb's that I cased using grandma paper.

So....I dug out some grandma paper, made sure it had some flowers on it, used the tried but true layout and made four of these cards.

Please be sure and stop by to see what the COF Girls created.  You will be amazed!   Their blog links are on the right sidebar.

Have a great day!

Calendar Girls - April

The Calendar Girls are ready to post for April!  Yay, we get to see what the girls have in store for us.  You can check out their posts via the URL's on the right sidebar.

Carol, was our hostess this month.   She gave us some great ideas for this challenge.  I decided to use the portion of the challenge that said we could use something another way or to re-purpose a used item.

I have to admit, this was not my idea.  I was with my Christmas Card Girls.  We quarterly meet at a different house and the hostess has kits and such.   So, one of our girls had this great idea to use glossy photo paper and make something grand out of it.   It was super easy and you will love the possibilities!   Oh, and a glass of wine and laughter helps this process......

You take a piece of glossy paper and stamp an image on the paper.   She gave us a large background stamp. Let the ink dry.  We used a Crayola crayon in white.  We marked the image where we wanted to resist the future ink.   We then used sponges to rub ink onto the paper to create a watercolor/tie-dye look.  I would suggest using a pigment dye ink such as Memento for the stamped image.   As for the colors she had us use Stampin' UP! colors.   If you wish to create a matte look, you can use a chalk ink and the colors seem to have been lighter.

I cut up some paper, ran some through an embossing folder, trimmed the image, added some fatty eyelets and ribbon and here is my card. It was fun to get your inner artist on!

Of course you cannot have a birthday card, without the quintessential birthday song!

Dueling Darlings - April

Hello and welcome to the Dueling Darlings April posting!   You will love what you see from our SCS group of Dueling Darlings.  Their blog links are on the right sidebar.

I am fortunate enough to host this month for the Divas.  Darlene, is the hostess for the Dazzlers.  We kicked around some ideas and Darlene came up with the theme of flowers and we ran with it.

We also asked each of the girls to share their favorite flower in their blog post.   I am not so much of a flower girl, I mean I know your basics but when you forget to water them, they all look the same....dead!   LOL  So, my favorite flower would have to be a tulip.  Simple and pretty!

Since I am in my 'use what'cha got' phase, I dug out a seriously old stamp.   It is Sunflower ll by Delta Creative.  I did need to get some paper to have have enough for everyone.  Shopping, darn! I even used a button, Kelly!  I cut my sunflower from the original stamp to adhere it to the wood tag, colored it up and used Crystal Effects by Stampin' UP!   Now that bottle of Crystal Effects is so old it is a wonder it still works!  I do like working with it though.  It creates a great texture and brings richness to the colors.

Of course the papers reminded me of wood, then of country themed things, then it made me think of Country Music, so I had to listen to this song.  It total makes me laugh when I hear it!

Thanks for stopping by....

Crafters of Faith & Calendar Girls - March

Hello Everyone!   In my being so busy of late, I have missed you all!!!  I do hope you are all doing well and had a wonderful Easter Sunday.

In running around to catch up, I have created another duel card.  I hope you don't mind!  I had cards to create for Crafters of Faith and Calendar Girls on SCS.

Jeanette, gave us a great challenge at the Crafters of Faith.  Our card creation is to be for Easter, but not in the bunny kind of way.   In the true sense.

I found a great digital sentiment that I had on hand from Create with TLC.  It worked perfectly with an image that I had from Stampin' UP!.  The image is stamped on white vellum and heat embossed for the top layer.  The second layer is stamped on cardstock, then layered with the vellum piece to create a shadow effect.  I attached them with tiny brads.   I also incorporated some SCORING since I kind of failed at that on my COF card last month {LOL}.

You will notice that there is no DP on this card, and that was the challenge that I posed to the Calendar Girls for their creations this month.   I had heard some gasps at this challenge, but I cannot wait to see what they have come up with.  Not really as hard as you might think...come on, give it a try!

In my mantra 'use what'cha got', my ribbon is a recycle, the images were saved from when I was playing with vellum a long time ago and the green scalloped edge was a scrap that was trimmed on another project.   At this rate I should be able to buy something new in twenty years!  LOL

Please be sure and stop by the Crafters of Faith and Calendar Girls blogs.  You will see some serious talent.  Their blog lists are on the right sidebar.

Thanks, for stopping by.  Have a great day!
