Calendar Girls - April

The Calendar Girls are ready to post for April!  Yay, we get to see what the girls have in store for us.  You can check out their posts via the URL's on the right sidebar.

Carol, was our hostess this month.   She gave us some great ideas for this challenge.  I decided to use the portion of the challenge that said we could use something another way or to re-purpose a used item.

I have to admit, this was not my idea.  I was with my Christmas Card Girls.  We quarterly meet at a different house and the hostess has kits and such.   So, one of our girls had this great idea to use glossy photo paper and make something grand out of it.   It was super easy and you will love the possibilities!   Oh, and a glass of wine and laughter helps this process......

You take a piece of glossy paper and stamp an image on the paper.   She gave us a large background stamp. Let the ink dry.  We used a Crayola crayon in white.  We marked the image where we wanted to resist the future ink.   We then used sponges to rub ink onto the paper to create a watercolor/tie-dye look.  I would suggest using a pigment dye ink such as Memento for the stamped image.   As for the colors she had us use Stampin' UP! colors.   If you wish to create a matte look, you can use a chalk ink and the colors seem to have been lighter.

I cut up some paper, ran some through an embossing folder, trimmed the image, added some fatty eyelets and ribbon and here is my card. It was fun to get your inner artist on!

Of course you cannot have a birthday card, without the quintessential birthday song!

What a fun stamp camp card! It's so bright and fun - great stamping idea with and loving those big eyelets (I know they have another name, but it's escaping me at the moment!) Super fun all around!

So blessed you are a Calendar Girl!

Tami...that is a very cool technique you use on this card! I have 2 packs for SU! glossy card stock to use and this might be a good way to start! Do you want to come show me how this os done??

Love it and the colors are very pretty, even though I am not a purple girl!
