Calendar Girls - May

Yes, that was right....MAY!   I am so very far behind.  I have to apologize.  Life sure has gotten in the way as of late, but moving on to more fun things....

Our Glittah Sistah Carol, was our hostess.  She gave us a challenge to create a card with a theme of something we are looking forward to this summer.  Fun!

Well, I love watermelon.   Growing up in Oregon, it is all about the Hermie!   Yes, the Hermiston watermelon.  They are kinda famous in their own right.   The watermelons are grown in Hermiston, Oregon.  Basically, in the middle of nowhere.  There are only about 650 total acres that grow the melons.  Most stay in the Pacific Northwest.  15% go to Canada and 10% to other regions in the country.  I think it is safe to say, we are a bit piggy with the Hermies!   They do taste like no other.  They use hives of bees to pollinate the melons.  The average melon weighs in between 10 to 25 pounds.  Oh and they have a seedless variety.  * Heaven *  People have been known to wait in line for them.

While the Hermiston watermelon has their own Facebook page, do you ever wonder how to choose a ripe melon?  This article gave some insight and I like her end result!

My card depicts my love for the all mighty Hermie!  The image is from Stampin' UP!

Thanks for stopping by, to take a peek at my card.  In the meantime, I will get back to work on getting caught up!

Tami, what a fun card! I think watermelon is the perfect image for a summertime card. And your coloring of the image is delicious! I really like the way you embossed the strip on the red paper and then had the rugged edge to it, too. Very creative!

I don't like ice cream but I love watermellon! Now I'll be on a Hermie quest. Thanks.

Love your card, just the right splash of bright colors and a super cute image too! Glad that life left you alone long enough to play with paper!

Hugs, friend!
