Crafters of Faith - October

While I am sure that there are pumpkins and colored leaves on every one's mind this time of year, the Crafters of Faith have worked on their monthly challenge involving music.

Liz, is our hostess for the month of October.  She challenged us to use a verse from Jonah and to create a card with a musical image.  Oh.  I had better start searching early, as I could not think of many images off hand that would work for the challenge!

"But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you.  What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’ ”

~Jonah 2:9 NIV

Low and behold, I found an image in my digital file that I received from Create With TLC.   It took a little bit to color, simply to decipher the line art.

Once I had the image colored, it just screamed the need for some 'grandma paper'.   Yep, April, I found the Mac Daddy of 'grandma paper' in my stash.  I could not tell you where it came from, because I can hardly believe I actually had it!!!   I also had a piece of sheet music that I cut a bit of and used under the ribbon.

Ssssh, don't tell anyone, but I like to listen to classical music.  Especially, when I am working on the computer.  My Pandora channel 'Classic Solo Piano Radio' gets a workout!   When I wanna get a little more upbeat, I listen to this.  What could be better, girls who rock, my fave Zepplin mixed with classical!

Please visit the other Crafters of Faith to see their creations.  Their blog links are on the right sidebar.  Thanks, for stopping by!

Calendar Girls - October

Hello Everyone!   The Calendar Girls from SCS are ready to show you some creativity.  We have a challenge from Barb this month.   She has thrown down a few challenges in conjunction with each other.  I had to go find my thinking cap!  I know I should be wearing it all the time, but it seems to have been put away lately!   LOL

Our challenge was to go to the Technique Lover Challenge Forum on SCS and choose a technique that has the number zero or one in the challenge number.  It needed to be a technique that we have never used.  An added element was to make anything, but a card.  For some extra credit we could go with a Halloween theme.

I chose to work with challenge TLC413, Focus on the Dies.  In the challenge, the die cuts are to be the focus with minimal stamping.  I was able to use six die cuts on this project.

When DH and I were cruizin' through the channels this weekend, we saw a movie that went waaaayyy back.  Remember Ghostbusters?!  We watched a few minutes of it and laughed at how cool it was when we were kids.  You know, I had to go get the Ray Parker Jr. song.   I don't know what's more laughable, the archaic quality of this video or Ray Parker Jr. trying to be all suave singing this song!  I do know that we used to run around saying "I ain't afraid of no ghost" when this was popular, and I don't think my mom liked it when we would mimic the part "I can't hear you!" then claim we were just singing a song.

So, here is my Ghostbuster tag.   I had some miscellaneous Halloween items that I put together.   The background DP is so very old...like the '90's!  LOL  The tombstone name I. B. Dead makes me giggle.  I also like the little fussy cut ghosts...especially the little one in glasses!

Please be sure to see what other techniques the Calendar Girls used this month.  Their blog links are on the right sidebar.

Dueling Darlings - October

It's duel time!   How great is that?!   Well, I have been on the catch up as of late.  So, I went Monday to the mail to pick up my waiting ever so long kit that Judy sent.   Much to my surprise....no kit.  Lost in the mail.  Sheesh!  I feel so bad that Judy went to all that work and it is lost!

I did have the email with the details of the kits from, Judy.   I went ahead a made a card with her theme, thus my card is different than the other Divas, I hope you don't mind.

I do not have any Halloween stamps, so off to my trusty digital files.  I found this cute Witch Peeker image from Bugaboo.  I decided to use her.   I colored her up and used Spicas to highlight her.  While I love the finished look using Spicas, they sure are a bear to try to photograph!  I need an app for that!  LOL

I used a computer generated sentiment and get this...washi tape!  Yep, me.   I put the washi tape around the sentiment and then punched it out.   I am usually so washi inept!

Judy, asked us to share our thoughts on Halloween.   We try to have some friends over for dinner, which is always chili, and hand out candy.  We then go out and walk the neighborhood.  It is so good to see everyone and the costumes. The neighbors are all strolling around with a warm drink and chatting.  It is really fun!

Please be sure to check out the other Dueling Darlings, to see what their kits contained.  Their blog links are on the right sidebar.

Happy Getting Ready for Halloween!

Dueling Darlings - September

While the duel has passed, I am chiming in tardy with my September Dueling Darlings card for SCS.  What a fun kit that Kadie sent to us.   I loved all of the colors to work with.  Thank you, Kadie.

Our theme was Globetrotting and Getting Down to Your Roots.   Kraftin' Kimmie, Melanie of Canada was the image I used.  I decided to get my 'eh on!

We were asked to share our heritage with this challenge.  Mine is actually quite simple.  A quarter each of Irish, Norwegian, German and Russian.  Ireland married Norway and Germany married Russia and each was one hundred percent.  My dad is Irish and Norwegian.  My mom is German and Russian.  Before family dinners my grandma would say the Lord's Prayer in Norwegian, the only time she spoke it.  Fun fact....every person in my entire family, both sides, as far back as documented, all have blue eyes.

Please take some time if you have not already and visit the other Dueling Darlings to see what they created with their kits.  Their blog links are on the right sidebar.

Have a great week!
